My Time at the University of Northern Colorado
As an athletic training student I was afforded the opportunity to help Division 1 athletes return to sport or maintain their athletic involvement while overcoming injury. In conjunction with my coursework to understand evaluation and rehabilitation I spent over 1000 hours clinically working with athletes allowing me to begin my career as a clinician while growing time management. The sports I worked with were wrestling, basketball, football, my senior rotations were with track and cross country in the fall and baseball and soccer in the spring. I would like to extend a gigantic thank you to the two professors that helped shape the beginning of my clinical career, Shannon Courtney and Jim Turk. Athletic training has shown me the sports performance end of rehabilitation which can be incredibly exciting but not as rewarding as being apart of a cohesive team atmosphere.

Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist
My other degree path allowed me to complete an internship that changed my life. The University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute (UNCCRI) is one of the most wonderful places in the world. The staff at UNCCRI have some of the largest hearts, providing exercise interventions and a culture of care for current cancer patients and cancer survivors. While the staff are amazing they aren't near as incredible as the clients who come through their doors every day. The clients display the most remarkable strength and inspiring attitudes, showing their character that has left a resounding impact on my heart that will stay with me forever. UNCCRI also helped show me the far reaching effects that exercise has as medicine by helping to combat the deleterious effects of cancer and its treatments.
Reisher
Scholar
Ther Reisher scholarship program is both a merit and need based scholarship program that provided numerous opportunities for extra curricular development including workshops on professionalism, preparation for graduate school, finances, and others. It allowed me to serve as a mentor to younger students chosen
for the scholarship program, skills I plan to cary on as a clinical instructor in the years to come. Additionally, it enhanced my work ethic by requiring students to maintain employment in addition to taking a full course load through the entirety of their undergraduate education.
