Application of Knowledge

"Knowledge has no value unless you use and share it"- Unknown

 Reflection

  • A life long passion for learning has  been apart of me but in recent years I have found that there is no value unless it is passed on to others

  • I see a need to effect change in the system and hope to take action towards this as I establish myself in the field to make sure that patients remain above profit.

  • I will always seek out more information so that I can grow but more importantly, I will seek to continually integrate what I learn into practice.

  • I will investigate the unique needs of each patient and not provide them care based solely on typical presentation

Individual Practice Analysis Case Presentation

I learned that...

  • Finding a patients “why” can be one of the most important steps in leading them to successful recovery

  • Patients should not be blamed for fear, instead, they should be supported through trauma-informed care

  • Fear-avoidance and self-limitation can play a larger role than comorbidities in successful rehabilitation

  • The social isolation presented by COVID-19 has had a substantial psychosocial impact and affects everyone differently

  • How appropriate interventions can lead to a successful discharge

  • How to apply a broad scope of literature to unique patients.

Business Design Project

I discovered...

  • How difficult it is to run a business even just on paper

  • The profit necessary to remain open does not often incentivize patient-centered care

  • I theorize the way to attain both is by establishing the proper cultureamong employees

  • Too many clinics are forced to sacrifice outcomes to keep their doors open

  • My passion as a physical therapist is a fully integrated approach to manage the neuromusculoskeletal system in its entirety and not merely as components.

Legislative Research Assignment

This assignment taught me how to apply what I know in order to  communicate with our legislatures to create change for my patients and this profession.
